In 2010 he first visited Kenya to teach a course on writing for a seminary, Pan African School of Theology. Between 2010 and 2015 he trained many teams 60 hours of cultural and team-specific training before leading them to Kenya.
In late 2015 he and his wife, Diane, moved to Kenya; he to continue teaching and leading, Diane to establish a library for an elementary and high school in the central Kenyan town of Nyahururu.
In 2018, he was certified to train and facilitate Cultural Intelligence through the Cultural Intelligence Center.

After 20 years managing one of Canada's largest Christian retail stores, and then managing a leadership development association, David returned to university, earning a Master of Theological Studies degree. The focus of his work was on leadership and leadership culture in organizations.
